In simple terms, a subluxation is when a vertebra has lost its normal position. It can occur from physical, chemical, and mental stressors. Once one or more spinal vertebrae move out of position, it creates stress on nearby nerves. This prevents the body from functioning with ease. Our goal if you have subluxation is to remove or correct any vertebra out of position to eliminate any interference to the nervous system and improve spinal function.
Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest non-drug, noninvasive forms of health care available. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments. Manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints restricted by tissue injury caused by a traumatic event. The theory is that proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal structure will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication.
Any adjustment made is safe when it’s performed by someone trained and licensed to deliver care. With Dr. Zock’s extensive education, you are in good hands, literally!
80% of the population will suffer from back pain or neck pain throughout their life. Most of these people would benefit from chiropractic care.
Anyone with osteoporosis, (thinning of bones), should avoid a chiropractor. Since a chiropractor works with manipulating the spine, any person who has osteoporosis requires other attention compared to care a chiropractor can provide.
If you are unsure if you can/should see a chiropractor, simply consult with a chiropractor. Chiropractors are the best professionals to talk to if you want to know whether your condition can benefit from chiropractic care.
Chiropractors treat conditions related to your body’s structure. Our goal is to relieve pain and improve function. Compared to prescribing drugs or doing surgery, we adjust or manipulate body parts to get them in the right position. Chiropractic care is based on the idea that when your body is in proper alignment, you have a better chance of healing yourself. Chiropractic improves function of the musculoskeletal system by restoring motion in joints of the spine. Adjustments to hypomobile joints alleviates pain and muscle tightness, improves range of motion, and allows injured tissues to heal
A thrown out back can result from physical activity such as lifting anything heavy or a sudden twist. Symptoms include:
- Muscle spasms when at rest or active
- Lower back pain
- Stiffness in the lower back
- Limited range of motion in the back
- Inability to maintain normal posture
At Zock’s, most treatments are manual (diversified) adjustments and muscle work (myofascial release and trigger point therapy). Dr. Zock also uses an activator, muscle stim, ultrasound, kinesio tape, and flexion distraction as needed. We also provide sports rehabilitation to help patients get back as soon as possible to their passion.
X-rays are not performed at Zock Family Chiropractic. Dr. Zock and staff will refer out as needed.
Doctors of chiropractic are trained to diagnose health care problems and refer out as needed. Dr. Zock often refers to primary care physicians for issues that are not musculoskeletal in nature and refer to orthopedists for further evaluation of musculoskeletal injuries.
Of course not!
Each patient is given an individual treatment plan based on their symptoms and response to treatment. All of our patients have unique bodies that we give special attention to each.
